The Introduction to SQL course is designed to give delegates practical experience in using ANSI standard SQL. As it is a generic course, some of the differences between different vendors’ implementations will be noted.

The delegate will learn and acquire skills as follows:
• Creating SQL statements to query a database table
• Using standard aggregate functions and related SELECT statement clauses
• Joining Tables
• Using basic subqueries and the set operators

Who will the course benefit?

Anyone who needs to understand and use SQL to manipulate a database.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this Introduction to SQL course, although an understanding of databases and exposure to information technology in general would be useful.

Entry Requirements

Some previous programming or database experience would be useful.

There is an overlap between the content of this 1 day Introduction to SQL course and the content on the suggested follow-on Oracle and MySQL/MariaDB courses. You may wish to review the content of the 3 day Oracle SQL course, the 3 day Introduction to MySQL course or the 3 day Introduction to MariaDB course and if more suitable to your training needs attend one of those courses rather than this 1 day Introduction to SQL course.
